Mad Jack’s Restaurant & Bar Access Statement

This access statement is a summary of our provision. The property is a grade 2 listed building split over varying levels. Prior inspection is advisable and most welcome. Please contact us should you have any specific questions and we will endeavour to help.

Pre-arrival

  • Mad Jack’s is located at 15 St Mary’s Street which forms part of Shrewsbury’s one way traffic system
  • There is a park and ride bus stop (from Meole Brace) on the opposite side of St Mary’s Street, 3 minutes walk
  • There is a bus stop on the opposite side of St Mary’s Street, 3 minutes walk
  • Shrewsbury railway station is located in the town centre, a 10 minute walk or from 4 minutes by taxi
  • Comet cars offer wheelchair accessible vehicles

Arrival and Car Parking

  • Mad Jack’s is located in Shrewsbury town centre
  • There is no car parking available at Mad Jack’s
  • St Mary’s Street has double yellow lines on both sides
  • There are several pay and display car parks located around the town centre
  • Assistance with luggage by arrangement
  • Check in time is from 2.00 pm and check out on day of departure by 11.00am

Main Entrance

  • Entry is directly off the pavement of St Mary’s Street
  • The front door is 88 cm wide
  • There is 1 step (8cm) up off the pavement leading straight into the entrance corridor
  • There is no hand rail in the corridor and thick matting on a floor that slopes upwards
  • At the end of the short corridor there is a right turn into the bar up 1 step 8cm high

The Bar

  • The floor comprises of flat wooden flooring
  • Sofas and soft chairs are provided
  • There are bar stools at the bar counter
  • There is a central island with high stools
  • There are fire extinguishers on the wall of the bar
  • The counter top of the bar is long and accessible
  • There are no handrails in the bar
  • A coat/umbrella stand is provided

The Courtyard

  • The courtyard is adjacent to the main building and provides a relaxing outdoor area
  • Access to the courtyard is off the entrance corridor down 2 steps each x 8cm
  • The flooring is flat and quarry tiled
  • Outdoor heaters are provided and the area is well lit
  • Smoking is permitted in the courtyard
  • Firm wicker style chairs and tables are available and can be moved around
  • There is an emergency exit through a door (89cm width) leading directly on to the pavement of St Mary’s Street

The Restaurant

  • Enjoy a modern British seasonally inspired menu with lunch and dinner served daily
  • Leading from the bar area there is a half step of 2cm height into the restaurant
  • The floor is of large quarry tiles
  • Average space between tables is 57cm
  • The tables are marbled topped and the chairs are tall backed and armless
  • There is a staged seating area within the restaurant with 2 steps at either end of varying height between 15 and 28cm
  • There are fire extinguishers on the wall of the restaurant

Toilets

  • There are no ground floor toilets
  • There are 15 steps up to both the ladies and gentlemen’s toilets with a left turn half way up
  • The steps are 25cm deep and 17cm high and carpeted
  • There is a wooden hand rail provided on the left hand side of the stairs
  • At the top of the steps is a landing with the toilets leading off this there are no additional steps
  • Ladies: 2 cubicles and 2 washbasins
  • Gentlemen’s: 1 cubicle, 1 urinal and 1 washbasin
  • There are no hand rails in the toilets
  • Toilets doors are 73cm wide

Bedrooms:

  • The bedrooms are of an irregular shape, the flooring is carpeted but uneven due to the nature of the old building
  • There are 14 steps to the 1st landing where bedroom numbers 3 and 4 are located 8 of these steps are straight, 6 are on a right hand twist
  • There are an additional 12 steps with a tight left handed twist to reach the 2nd floor landing where bedrooms numbers 1 and 2 are located

Bedrooms include:

A 5 foot double bed with feather duvets and feather pillows (synthetic can be arranged at time of booking) Small fridge, dressing table/desk, 2 armless high backed chairs, local information pack, emergency contact details, clock radio, iron and ironing board, tea and coffee tray, bedside tables with lamps, windows Full length mirror, stand alone wardrobe, flat screen TV’s, some furniture movable upon request

En-suite facilties

Laminate flooring, a plastic shower cubicle, toilet and washbasin, shaver, mirror, no hand

Bedroom 1

2 steps each x 20 cm into room, 2cm ramped step into en-d

Bedroom 2

20 cm step on left hand side of bed. 20 cm step on right hand side of bed 2 x 20 cm steps up to the bed. Ramped 3cm step into en-suite

Bedroom 3

1 x 20 cm step leading down into en-suite. 1 x 20 cm step up to washbasin and toilet within the en-suite

Bedroom 4

1 x 12 cm step into this bedroom. 1 x 3cm ramped step down into the en-suite Spacious seating provided with 2 steps each x 20 cm deep, 40cm wide and 25 cm high, leading to this area which offers a 2 seater leather sofa and 2 leather armchairs, a flat screen wall mounted TV, a coffee table and a decorative fireplace

  • The fire assembly point is on the opposite side of St Mary’s Street at St Mary’s Court
  • There is no smoking permitted anywhere in the building
  • Smoking is permitted in the courtyard
